ProWein 2011 – Press Release No. 2/September 2010
To Another Great Year!
ProWein 2011: Preparations in Full Swing

27 to 29 March 2011 will see the international wine and spirits sectors meeting again in Düsseldorf. ProWein 2011 will once again be host to all globally relevant wine-growing regions. Commenting on this Hans Werner Reinhard, the new Deputy Managing Director at Messe Düsseldorf, said: “This means in 2011 ProWein will offer an unique and perfect opportunity for international trade visitors from retail and gastronomy to gain a comprehensive overview on the world range as well as trends and innovations in the wine and spirits sector. ProWein therefore offers a compact and sound Basis for Business.”

Some 3,400 companies from Europe, America, Africa, Asia and Oceania are expected as exhibitors. Especially gratifying: international wine and spirits suppliers have never bindingly committed to participation at ProWein so early as they have for 2011 – thereby impressively underlining the leading position of ProWein internationally.

In line with its increased market significance the organic wine segment is once again also prominently featured at ProWein 2011. Some 150 expected exhibitors from 15 nations prove the consistently excellent taste of organically produced wines.

Fruity, Sparkling, Individual: Spirits make the Mix

ProWein also has an exciting range of spirits in store next March. Once again some 300 prestigious firms will be showcasing an interesting variety of brandies, whiskies, liqueurs and rums – as well as regional specialties from small, lesser known distilleries.

ProWein – More than Business
A highlight at ProWein is the central tasting zone in Hall 6 organised in collaboration with the trade magazine “Weinwirtschaft”. As an ideal “sensory guide” it offers the perfect, highest-level aid to orientation for the rest of your visit to the fair.

At the special delicatessen show “Wine’s Best Friends” organised by ProWein together with its partner “Der Feinschmecker” some 30 participants will be offering culinary wine accompaniments with a bit of “bite” to them. Here specialist retailers, in particular, will be able to gather valuable ideas for their range choices.

It is not only the trade visitors who enjoy value added information from exhibitors from both their wide product range and exciting events at their stands. At “ProWein goes City” – the “fair after the fair” the whole of Düsseldorf pays homage to Bacchus. At numerous restaurants and specialist stores around the city all wine lovers are invited to fun, bubbly and elegantly Lucullan events revolving around fine wines even after the trade fair has closed.

In March of this year ProWein was once again able to look back on a record result as the world’s most important meeting for the wine and spirits sector. 3,395 exhibitors from 51 countries and more than 36,000 trade visitors (of whom nearly one in three travelled to the fair from outside Germany) were very satisfied with the way the event went. The German Wine Institute (Das deutsche Weininstitut – DWI) dubbed ProWein the “mood barometer of the sector”. Exhibitors praised the trade visitor concept and were highly delighted with the extremely high-quality customer contacts made without wasted coverage. Top ratings were also given by trade visitors: 97% were unreservedly positive about how the fair went.
